Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ›Yolanda‹ heads

Hi,

after spending some additional waiting time in China, the Doll Sweet DS-167 Evo finally arrived yesterday. Since there are a couple of reviews already for Doll Sweet's Evo, I am not sure yet if I will make an in-depth unboxing or just post some impressions.

Anyway, here she is:

Configuration as depicted above: Doll Sweet DS-167 Evo body style, more tight joints, with finger bones, with finger & toe nails, built-in vagina (fixed), no pubic hair, cream skin color.

Thera head with standard blue eyes and S-class makeup without customizations (that's exactly what you will get when ordering S-class makeup); custom wig and custom outfit from various sources.

I also ordered a Yolanda head with S-class makeup, and this S-class makeup is giving me a bit of a headache at the moment. I will probably make a separate post for this and compare standard and S-class makeup.

Please feel free to give feedback if you are interested in an an in-depth unboxing.

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

Hi,

OK, so let's keep this short…

1) Shipping & packaging.

The doll was completed on July 19, 2018, and confirmend on the same day. So that's her birthday, and her Chinese zodiac sign would be earth-dog. Upon completion an almost one-month travel within China followed, but her travel to Europe was quick.

In Shenzhen she was repackaged, so she did not arrive in the usual DS box, but a smaller cardboard package as used for TPE dolls.

2) Padding & wrapping.

From the original packaging, the sleeping bag was kept. Though someone put tape on the sleeping bag:

So the sleeping bag is now a bit sticky from the tape's adhesive. Other than the sleeping bag, no additional wrapping was used. As usual for DS, the each head is separately packaged, and as well hand as feet are extra protected with several layers of foil.

The heads with S-class makeup are significantly more expensive than the ones with standard makeup; though, the packaging is the same. Since the packaging for the heads is good enough, there is no real need to change that. I did never encounter a shipping damage with a DS head within the past years.

The rpackaged padding of the box was what we are used to from TPE dolls - some foam around the walls of the box. Not exactly how I want a $4,000 doll to travel, but it was sufficient. She survived without breakage or major dents.

3) Accessories and scope of supply.

Doll Sweet dolls come without clothing or other accessories. Except for the sleeping bag, you get one wig per head. That's it, and it has not changed for the Evo. No plastic enema, no plush blanket, no condoms. Unsually a DS comes with a printed manual which was missing in this case, probably due to repackaging.

In this case, I ordered a bunch of additional items from DS; since each box has some room left, it's a good way to save some shipping costs. Most of the outfits and wigs shown on exdoll.com are available for ordering. In case you are planning to order a DS, you might want to keep that in mind. The blonde 100 cm wig shown above is one of these items.

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

Hi,

let's continue with some impressions of the doll.

As mentioned above, she did not suffer any damages. The neck connector was bent by almost 90° due to vertical handling of the box.

It scares me every time, but a DS usually survives this unharmed. The neck is fully hinged basically since 'forever', and as well the hinges as the silicone is sturdy enough to deal with some rough handling. With emphasis on 'some' - like any other doll, a DS is not indestructible. But she is way more sturdy than a lot of other dolls on the market.

Since the most frequently question about the Evo is "how does the vagina look like", here is a pink shot:

The placement is a bit higher than I'd expect, and there is the usual seam line above. Body makeup is nice. Inside the vaginal canal there is a texture. I will show how this texture looks like when I do an endoscope inspection.

Most notably, the vaginal opening is tight. In the photo above the vagina is spread open as wide as possible. So if you want to have sex with an Evo, you can expect intense stimulation, positively speaking.

Surface finishing is excellent. Seam lines are there, if you look very closely, but they are timmed with extremely high precision. It is a bit hard to describe, but the best way to put it might be: You won't notice any seamlines, unless you start consciously search for them. It might be just a very good doll I got, or DS has pimped up precision of their molds quite a bit. It is another of these numerous subtleties ov the Evo you won't notice right away.

Surface finishing is nice as well. It was always good on a DS for the past years, but it got even better. Again, details like shadowing are less obvious and more subtle. However, there is one detail I find a bit puzzling. The tips of both nipples look slightly translucent:

It's hard to get on camera and you have to overexpose a bit to make it visible. Areolae are nicely coated, and the sides of the nipples are coated as well. Just on the tips of the nipples it looks a bit like a transclucent drop of silicone. It's not very noticable and I would not consider it a flaw, but it is a little imperfection on both nipples.

Everything repackaged in Shenzhen goes straight into the bath tub - to remove dust and finger prints, and to make sure that residue from the manufacturing process (e.g. release agent) is cleanly washed off. An occasion for some photos:

The sculpt of this doll is exquisite. The body shape reminds me a bit of the DS-160 Plus, just taller. The body shape is just wonderful. However, the enhancements are subtle and less obvious.

And anyway, the key theme about everything Evo is subtlety. This is good as it shows an superior level of skill.

4) Silicone blend, skin surface and skin tone.

Now things are getting a little bit more difficult. The silicone blend has slighly changed once more. The memory foam like haptics are still there, but it is less obvious. Compared to my DS-163 from last year, the breasts are firmer. In direct comparison, the skin surface is a little less tacky than the 2017 blend. However, if you powder you doll, the tackiness will be mitigated.

The heads with S-class makeup always come with a completely different silicone blend. The heads are very firm, similar to Doll Sweets pre-2015 silicone blend, but less tacky. The heads feel a bit like old 4woods heads - firm, less tacky, less oily. Very interesting, but for sure disputable for a number of reasons.

One thing I will look closer into is the skin tone deviation between heads and body. This photo was taken with indirect flashlight during unpacking, and even with this lighning a little deviation is recognizable:

Depending on how you set your lightning, the deviation might be unnoticable, but it is there.

Another area of controvery is if you want to kiss the lips. If kissable means soft for you, heads with S-level makeup might not be a good choice for you.

If you take a look at the picture in the first post of this thread, you might notice that the two silicone blends for head and body reflect lightning differently: The body is glossy, like the older DS ladies, the head is not. Actually, in direct comparison the head appears almost matted down. Some silicones have this built-in, or it might be a result of S-class makeup. However, it's nice that the heads with S-class makeup are less shiny.

My personal opinion is pretty clear; I love the firmness of the head as it resembles a human head with a skull and bones. It is the exact opposite of jelly-like heads in ultra-soft TPE. And I love the matted surface.

But it's clearly not a head design that will make everybody happy.

5) Neck connector and skeleton.

Not much changed here. The neck connector is still the proven spigot type. If you are used to DS heads and their smooth operation, you will fail to understand why someone would be willing to bother with something like M16 threads. Doll Sweet's neck connector is easy to use, and it just works.

The DS skeleton is excellent as it always was. No news here. Though there seem to be some hidden modifications I will explore later. Most notably, the maniphalanx has changed.

I ordered the doll with more tight joints, and this one came with really tight joints. She can keep a pose firmly without giving in easily.

That's how she looks on her stand:

And then there is this 2nd most frequently asked question about DS - can they stand?

For this Evo, the answer is still a clear 'no'. Her feet are way too soft and she would hurt herself. Even by bending the feet against the foot plate you risk dents.

Doll Sweet offers an alternative approach to standing - hanging with the Doll Hook. This is an elaborate system with a lot of advantages. E.g., you can make a DS appear to stand on the tip of the toes, or to stand on one foot, or toeven float. The primitive "standing option" with screws as offered for TPE dolls can not compete with that. And last but not least, the feet of a DS look nice and cute - no screws are poking through the skin.

However, even cheap TPE dolls with the screws for standing can stand. This approach may be primitive, but it works. Unless you work with the hanging system or accept (severe) damage to the feet, a DS is bedridden.

For me personally, the missing standing capability is the only major drawback of the DS-167 Evo.

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

6) Body shape.

As mentioned before, I think this sculpt is brilliant. The body shape is perfectly propotioned and you not even remotely get the impression of 'tits on sticks'. It's a somewhat natural, but 'optimzed' and thusly perfect body shape.

If you like the shape of the breasts is a matter of personal taste. Seen from a low angle, they look like so:

If you prefer more saggy breasts, this body style might not be the right one for you. The Evo has the firm breasts of a young woman

7) Heads.

Thera with S-class makeup:

For my taste, she looks just stunning. "Stunning" in the sense of: perfect.

Though, the question is if the impressive appearance is the result of S-class makeup, or 'just' caused by the dark eye shadow/eye liner.

Yolanda with S-class makeup:

This head has no dark eye shadow/eye liner and appears much less impressive. Actually there is not much visible difference to Yolanda with standard makeup, at least not without a more in-depth look. I will make a separate post, comparing standard and S-class makeup.

8 ) Specs.

I triple checked this measurement. It's really 30.7 kg without head, so she is around 32.5 kg with head.

That is truly amazing for a doll of this size and body shape. Doll Sweet has kept their promise to reduce the weight. Due to manufacturing tolerances each specimen might slightly vary, but this weigh is just superb.

That's it for now. I will add other impressions and observations later - clothing, skin tone comparisons and maybe an endoscope inspection.

For now, here are some more pictures from her first photo shooting:

And last but not least, even with S-class makeup Thera remains Thera Smile

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

9) Clothing.

With the Evo body shape, everything gets different in regard to clothing. With a lot of current body shapes, regular women's clothing just won't fit well as the waist and sometimes the shoulders as well are too narrow. E.g. for the DS-163 you need to visit Asian stores or look for shops specialized on petite women.

Starting with the regular DS-167 from a couple of years ago, this has changed. The body proportions are much closer to a human woman, as well as body height as body 'volume' is concerned. Actually, this is one of the things that got me hooked on the Evo.

For the Evo, the specified body measurements are 85 cm bust and 68 cm underbust circumference, which makes her a proper 70C [DE] bra size, with next best matches 65D (smaller) respectively 75B (bigger). This are common bra sizes which are easy to get.

However, before going shopping let's double check the body measurements.

First thing worth mentioning is that she is shorter than advertised, similar like the regular DS-167. The specified body height without head is 150 cm; I'm getting something about 144 cm from heels to top of the neck, with some goodwill maybe 146 cm. A part of the neck goes into the head, so you can not simply add the specified head length of ~22 cm.

The rest of the body measurements are a bit confusing, e.g.:

  • bust - specified: 85 cm / measured: 81-82 cm
  • under bust - specified: 67 cm / measured: 62-63 cm
  • waist - specified: 59 cm / measured: 59 cm
  • hips - specified: 95cm / measured: 84 cm (~93 cm on the widest par of the butt)

It would be boring if specs would match, wouldnt it?

However, the deviations make a difference for clothing sizes. E.g. according to these measurements, her bra size would be rather 65D than 70C - one size smaller than specified. And honestly, visually she does not look like a C cup.

So better be careful when you go shopping for your Evo. You might need to return some clothes as clothing sizes are not precise, either.

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

Hi,

let's take a closer look at some details - the textured skin feature.

I am using a microscope with 200x magnification.

For reference: In this scale, a lint (left) and a mote (right) looks like so:

Please note: These particles are not in the doll skin. It's from the environment. And yes, the new Evo silicone is still a dust magnet, as you can see)

So we are here in a magification scale where things just yet visible to the bare eye, assuming you have really good eye sight, become gigantic. Please keep that in mind when viewing these pictures.

The next pictures show different areas across the DS-167 Evo body in cream skin color. The pictures are completely unretouched and without any photo editing.

This is a magnified seam line:

Now the head with S-class makeup:

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

Now, for comparison, some pictures of older DS heads and bodies.

Regular head with standard makeup, birth date in 2017:

Brushed eye brows (the white segments in the middle are reflections from the LED lights of the microscope):

Regular DS body style in LPink skin color, birth date in 2017:

Regular DS body style in brown skin color, birth date in 2016:

Here we get some reflections again:

Obviously these pictures are not entirely self explanatory. However, what I believe to see as a layperson in regard to microscopy is actually a different skin surface. Again, it is extremely subtle, much more subtle than on Sanhui's SH-165 mk.2 from several months ago where the skin texture was clearly visible with the bare eye.

Compared to the Evo skin surface with texture, the regular DS bodies have a smoother surface. Some kind of surface structure seems to be there as well, but it is not a similar texture.

Also, I believe that these microscopic images explain why the DS-167 Evo reflects lightning differently. The surface coating seems to be different, resulting in a less shiny appearance of the body in photos with artificial lighting. Though, theoretically the different appearance could as well result from a different silicone blend.

And possibly this subtle skin surface texture could explain why the DS-167 Evo feels differently - much better - than the regular DS body styles.

I am quite curious what other Evo owners think…

Re: Unboxing Doll Sweet DS-167 ›Evo‹ with ›Thera‹ and ...

Hi,

one correction about the scope of supply: I am pretty sure the Evo sheers off from Doll Sweet's tradition not to ship any clothing with their silicone dolls. I did not notice this before because I ordered a bunch of additional items from exdoll.com. I have unpacked most of the stuff now, and there is a surplus. I just can't figure out what belongs to which set because there is plenty of stuff but no packing list…

Anyway, what is worth mentioning is the quality of the EX Doll accessoires. It's not the super cheap factory gifts you get with a TPE doll. The outfits are regular women's clothing with good materials, though mostly without size labels.

One of the nice surplus items is this one:

It's some kind of nurse overall made of a strong fabric and even with a zipper. Sits skin tight on the DS-167 Evo (and might fit better on a DS-163 with a smaller chest and butt).

Also got the stewardess outfit (商品编号:EX-51260023) which comes with a mini skirt, blouse, jacket, scarf, hat and even high-heeled shoes. This is a really nice outfit, custom made and with EX labels inside and Aeroflot logo outside. When ordering it, you need to state the doll body, so I ordered it for the 167 Evo. What I got fits my 163 like a glove, but is way too small for the 167 Evo.

Anyway, getting proper clothing for the DS-163 is even better - and the shoes are almost too small for the 163, where would you get something like this outside of Asia Lol

Now continuing the search for DS-167 Evo outfits…
