Weekly summary 40/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 40th week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Novel Coronavirus situation.

a) The pandemic situation in general. The total amount of daily new infections stopped rising. On average, it has stabilized around 300,000 per day. Most active hot spots in the past week remained India, the U.S., Brazil, Argentina, and France. Spain and Israel have left the five-figure-group.

The number of total confirmed cases has exceeded 35 million; as of today, it is at 35,182,648. As of today, 1,038,810 deaths were recorded. These numbers were also relatively stable during the past weeks. Roughly, each week brings two million new infections. In the big (global) picture, I do not see significant exponential growth anywhere.

Also noteworthy: There is now a bunch of established treatment procedures available, for example including (off-patent) Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin in combination with Azithromycin, and the MATH+ protocol. Proven treatment procedures can significantly reduce the risk of a severe illness, requiring ICU care, or dying. Also, the risk of getting infected can be significantly reduced by wearing a mask in public (to reduce the ciral inoculum) and keepy healthy levels of Zinc, vitamin C and D. Even without a vaccine, the pandemic should now be managable everywhere in the world. Though, still unresolved are attempts to manipulate scientific research and to influence political decision makers in favour of inferior and expensive (patented, new) drugs. If and when the pandemic will be over has become a matter of payola and other forms of corruption. And yeah, a couple of days a go, U.S. president Trump was tested positive, too.

b) Impact on the doll business. All quiet at the front of Chinese suppliers as everybody was preparing for the approximately one-week-holidays around the National Day of China (Oct. 1st). Most businesses will resume work about when I will post the next weekly summary.

2) New arrivals.

This week, no new heads were introduced.

3) Business updates, technical updates and dolls in development.

For Indigo's care & repair products, there is now another option for shipping to destinations in North America available. There is now (sorted from fastest to slowest) express shipping, shipping with TGE/USPS, and shipping with Deutsche Post.

Climax Doll celebrates their 6th birthday with a 6th Anniversary Edition. The new lineup will include two TPE dolls with highly competitive pricing and excellent features.

The Silicone Art promotion has ended. Doll bodies and heads are now back at the regular prices.

Some manufacturers celebrate the National Day of China and shut down their facilities for some holidays.
