Weekly summary 49/2020

Hi,

this is a summary of what was going in the doll world in the 49th week of 2020, as far as we at Dollstudio & DS Doll Europe were concerned.

1) Coronavirus situation.

a) The pandemic situation in general. The magic bullet against Covid-19 has been unleashed. It's Ivermectin. It works as pre-exposure prophylaxis, post exposure prophylaxis, and when given to both early and late hospitalized patients. It even has shown a positive effect for "long haul" Covid-19 sufferers. No need to wait for an expensive vaccination which might or might not work!

b) Impact on the doll business. Situation unchanged - air freight capacities are reduced, and freight costs increase, all across the world. The second wave of lockdowns continue to delay shipments to EU destinations. Transit with the UPS special line takes now 45 days and up (air freight variant). The more affordable variant by train is used again, estimated transit time is 60 days and up. Some miniature dolls can be shipped with the DHL special line to EU destinations, the average transit time is still around two weeks. To destinations like Switzerland, the fastest shipping method is currently UP Worldwide Expedited.

2) New arrivals.

This week, four new heads were introduced:

• Doll Forever ›Artemis‹ head - silicone
• HR Doll no. 40 aka ›Sylvia‹ head (HR no. 40) - TPE
• JY Doll ›Eartha‹ head - silicone
• SE Doll ›Katherine‹ head (SE no. 087) - TPE

New head variants of older heads:

• Doll House 168 ›Lazuli‹ - silicone variant (TPE variant: Jianmen no. 58)
• Piper Doll ›Jenna‹ - silicone variant

Also, three new body styles were released:

• New arrivals: Doll House 168 DH20-140/E body style - silicone / ~140 cm / ~23 kg (2020 series)
• New arrivals: WM Dolls WM-173/L body style aka 173 cm H cup - TPE / 173 cm / 45 kg
• New arrivals: Piper Silicone PI-160/G aka ›Jenna‹ by Piper Doll - silicone / ~160 cm / ~42 kg
